Hilton Garden Inn

Project Snapshot

It had been over 40 years, but when a new hotel was slated to be built — from the ground to penthouse — in downtown Colorado Springs, New Vision Hotels called RMG to ensure that the project went off without a hitch. RMG was contracted to conduct Special Inspection and Construction Material Testing (CMT) for the new Hilton Garden Inn, a 10-story, 165-room facility. The hotel will have shops on the ground floor, a restaurant on the second floor, approximately 5,000 square feet of meeting space, and guest rooms on the third through tenth floors. RMG performed inspections of reinforcing steel, all post tension slab work (including tendon placement, stressing, and elongation), and verified the use of the required concrete design mix. Our team was on site to manage the placement of the concrete during the construction phase, to inspect the formwork for shape and location, and to ensure accurate dimensions for concrete construction. RMG performed material testing of the masonry unit blocks, mortar, prism, and grout; observed placement of reinforcement, connectors, and anchorages for CMU construction; performed A.W.S weld inspection; performed construction material testing of concrete strength, slump, air content, and temperature; and performed continuous inspections of the installation of composite slab decking and roof decking.

Impact

The Hilton Garden Inn fits into the city’s development and revitalization plans, and RMG is proud to be and to play an important part of making those aspirations come true.
